Who are you?
My name is Margarita Hamatsu. First and foremost, I am a mother, wife, and friend. I currently work as an outdoor education teacher in a kindergarten, though I prefer to call it nature-based education. Originally from Tokyo, Japan, with roots in both Japan and the Philippines, I've been involved in the field of education since I was 18. In my thirties, I took a brief career shift to work as an Operations Manager for Icelandair, but my passion for teaching brought me back to education. I've had diverse roles in this field, from management to hands-on teaching and curriculum development. I am deeply passionate about nature, sustainability, regenerative education, human development, spirituality, and helping others find purpose in life
What draws you to OANM? What is your motivation for facilitating such events?
I am always eager to expand my skills in facilitation. As a trained facilitator with Global Eco Village and a certified trainer of trainers, I continuously seek new ways to engage and guide groups effectively. What draws me to OANM is the passion and dedication of others already involved in facilitation there. Having attended several OANM events, I’ve come to appreciate it as a powerful tool, versatile enough to be applied across diverse groups and age ranges.
What is your facilitator super-power or style?
My facilitator super-power lies in my ability to create a welcoming and inclusive environment that fosters curiosity, connection, and self-reflection. As someone passionate about nature, sustainability, and human development, I bring a nature-based, regenerative approach to my facilitation, helping participants ground themselves and connect meaningfully with the world around them. I aim to be both a guide and a fellow traveler, creating space for participants to explore new perspectives and discover insights within themselves.
What do you hope participants will walk away with after each event? What is your vision?
I hope that after each event, participants walk away with a deeper sense of connection—to themselves, to each other, and to the natural world. My vision is for each person to feel empowered, inspired, and equipped with tools to foster sustainable change and growth, not only in their own lives but within their communities. I envision these experiences as catalysts for personal transformation, helping participants find purpose, embrace sustainability, and cultivate resilience, ultimately building a foundation for a regenerative, thriving future.
