Who are you?

Hello 🙂 I’m Geoffrey, a 37-year-old Dutch native who swapped windmills for waterfalls and volcanos when I moved to Iceland in 2019. My love affair with this land began with a holiday in 2018, and one thing led to another - next thing you know, I’m here, soaking in the geothermal vibes. I share my cozy Reykjavik abode with my two feline overlords, Ramses and Bono, who ensure I never run out of creative (or chaotic) inspiration.

Over a rather ordinary dinner, back in 2020 with my friend Tanja, Totelly was born. What started as a conversation about how to make the planet a more sustainable place, quickly morphed into a mission to bring people together through nature, connection and the occasional cat video. It’s all about perspective!

What draws you to Offers And Needs Market(OANM)? What is your motivation for facilitating such events?

OANM is like the ideal social mixer to me, but without the awkward small talk. I enjoy bringing people together and creating those “Hey, I didn’t know we had so much in common!” moments. In a world where loneliness can feel as vast as Iceland’s glaciers, OANM is my way of saying, “Let’s break the ice, literally and figuratively.”

My motivation is simple. I want to help people connect, learn from each other, and maybe even laugh a little along the way. I know loneliness all too well, and I think many of us do, so reducing loneliness isn’t just a noble goal; it’s practically a public service. And watching people find their tribe is way more satisfying than any Netflix binge!

What is your facilitator super-power or style?

My superpower would definitely be humor and authenticity. I’m here to keep things light and fun, throwing in a joke or two to ease any tension. Think of me as the Gandalf of gatherings, guiding everyone with a wink and a smile 🧙

I also love to gamify events. Why stick to the usual when you can turn networking into a treasure hunt or a friendly competition? Why so serious and boring? It’s all about making connections feel less like a chore and more like an adventure. And who can resist a good game to break the ice eh?

What do you hope participants will walk away with after each event? What is your vision?

I hope that everyone leaves feeling like they’ve made a new friend or discovered a hidden talent. I would like participants to think “That was actually fun!” and “I’m glad I came.” It’s all about fostering a sense of belonging and making sure everyone feels seen and heard.

My vision is therefore a community where every event leaves a little spark of joy, a few new connections, and maybe even some inspiration for your next big project. Imagine walking away from an OANM gathering with a smile on your face and a story to tell, that’s the kind of magic I strive to create.
