Digging out the dirt and saving the soil in the name of Climate Victory :)
Climate Victory Gardens pull on the participation of us individuals to get up and close to the nature around us. In a throwback to the efforts and resilience of ‘grow your own’ gardening in World War I and II, we are seeing more people participate in regenerative gardening.
Planting our own food not only ensures our healthy fill but it also takes on the big challenges of the climate crisis. In our own backyard, balcony garden or shared plot, we can draw down carbon into the soil, hydrate our topsoils, feed locals and turn food waste into an asset. We are creating our own circular economy. We are growing food unadulterated by chemicals, saving on long haul travel and cutting out lost waste!
Green America’s steps to victory:
(1) Growing food,
(2) covering soils,
(3) composting and using it to nourish soil,
(4) ditching chemicals,
(5) encouraging biodiversity.
In less than a year, America’s network of Climate Victory Gardens has almost quadrupled with 8,239 now on its map! Feeling inspired?! Check out the link for tips and steps to turn your hand to nature this Spring
